For Bison Transport, winning the 2005 Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) National Fleet Safety Award’s Grand Prize demonstrates that our commitment to safety in every aspect of our business pays off.
Winning the award is a remarkable achievement considering that Bison is a "medium sized" privately owned carrier and we were up against the very best fleets in the industry, including much larger American truckload fleets in both the private and public sectors. It is an affirmation that the energy we put into our safety program is recognized as industry leading. Everyone in our organization has cause to be proud that your competitors and your peers view you as worthy of this recognition.
As a fleet, Bison Drivers and owner operators are the safest, most knowledgeable, and technically skilled Drivers in this industry. Our hiring standards are such that less than ten percent of Driver applicants are recruited and hired. Our recruiters ensure that only the best and safest Drivers make it through a careful process of screening, testing and training to become a Bison Driver. Our safety and Driver development team, with the help of Tatonka, allows our Drivers the opportunity to continue to develop and improve upon the skills of their trade. Even the best have to work on being better every day!
Our maintenance team is the best in the business and we continue to strive for improvements every day. With "out of service" criteria more stringent than that of the D.O.T., our mechanics won’t hesitate to ground equipment for repairs that they see as necessary to ensure the safety of our drivers and the general public.
Our operations team is made up of highly creative and talented people who understand that they are responsible to ensure we meet the needs of our customers and our Drivers without sacrificing the need to be safe. If we can’t do it safely, we just don’t do it. There are no shortcuts and no exceptions.
