Bison Transport Wins US EPA SmartWay Environmental Excellence Award
Environmental responsibility is a concern for many people across North America. Bison Transport is recognized as a leader in North American truck transportation, and leads the way when it comes to the safe and environmentally efficient movement of freight across the continent.
Bison Transport is proud to announce that it has won the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Environmental Excellence Award. The award recognizes freight industry leaders that have made significant contributions to protecting the environment through their participation in the SmartWay Partnership (www.epa.gov/smartway). Bison Transport was one of 24 companies, from among the Partnerships' more than 400 Partners, to receive this distinction. The award was announced at the 2006 American Trucking Associations Management Conference, held October 28-31, in Dallas, Texas.
"This award is a product of our people's commitment to the environment," said President and CEO Don Streuber. "It is through each individual's daily decision making processes that we are able to make a difference." Bison Transport received the award based on its equipment purchasing decisions, effective marketing of fuel-efficient driving techniques and its full-motion simulation fuel management course that all Bison Transport drivers are required to participate in.
Bison Transport has operated since 1969 and is one of Canada's largest providers of truckload transportation, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bison operates one of the most modern fleets on the road with over 900 tractors and employs more than 1400 people. This award from the EPA stands alongside other awards and recognition, such as the Truckload Carriers Association National Fleet Safety Grand Prize Winner and being one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies.
