Bison Transport Presented Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sustainability
Friday, December 04, 2009 – Bison Transport was presented with the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sustainability by the Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development at the 2009 Manitoba Excellence in Sustainability Awards. Don Streuber, President & CEO of Bison Transport accepted the award from the Honourable Bill Blaikie, Minister of Conservation.
The Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development established the Manitoba Excellence in Sustainability Awards to formerly recognize individuals and organizations that incorporate sustainable development in their everyday business practices to establish solid and lasting results. Bison's application included its long combination vehicle (LCV) initiatives, driver fuel efficiency training and sustainable transportation strategy.
"When one first thinks of the trucking industry, the environment is not often in the forefront of their minds," says Don Streuber. "That image is quickly changing, for example Bison's long combination vehicles are the greenest trucking operation on the road today, and with after market aerodynamic features we have reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40%".
Bison was selected for implementing the concepts of sustainable development and environmental responsibility into its operations for over a decade and for leading the industry in providing environmentally conscious freight transportation services.
