How We Lead
Safety

Bison Transport was the first, and is one of the only trucking companies in Canada to invest in a computer-based skills development program that incorporates the same simulator technology used successfully in the aviation industry and military for years. Our program is called Tatonka.

You're Safe with Me

Tatonka, which is an ancient term used to describe Bison, utilizes interactive learning, instructor-led workshops, and full motion simulations, giving drivers real-life experiences in driving techniques. The Tatonka experience provides drivers with a clear measure of competency and a better understanding of how their actions affect safe vehicle control in every type of situation. Tatonka works toward reducing accidents, emissions, equipment maintenance and risk management expenses through courses that drivers attend on a regular basis. The result is a thoroughly qualified group of drivers who rank among the best in North America, and whose knowledge and experience make them unique in the industry.

Customs and Security

Bison Transport distinguishes itself from other highway carriers by having a border crossing strategy, which includes our partnership in border crossing initiatives introduced on both sides of the border such as C-TPAT, PIP, FAST, ACE, CSA, and PAPS. Just as we pride ourselves in our safety record and commitment to providing quality service, our border crossing strategy, security measures, and technological infrastructure continues to distinguish Bison as the carrier of choice.

C-TPAT

Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)

Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism is a joint U.S. government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen overall supply chain and border security. C-TPAT recognizes that Customs can provide the highest level of security only through close cooperation with the ultimate owners of the supply chain, importers, carriers, brokers, warehouse operators and manufacturers. Through this initiative, they ask businesses to ensure the integrity of their security practices and communicate their security guidelines to their business partners within the supply chain. This program is similar to the Partners in Protection program that Canada Customs and Revenue Agency has implemented.

Bison Transport's SVI number is bisNor00305.

This is accomplished through an agreement called a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
