Bison envisioned a comprehensive and progressive approach to providing advanced driving skills to our Professional Driving Team. We achieved this by integrating state of the art technologies and equipment with proven adult learning techniques.
Bison Transport was the first, and is one of the only privately owned trucking companies in Canada to invest in a skills development program that includes computer based learning and simulation technology (the same type of technology that has been used within the military and aviation industry). Our vision became Tatonka, a name used with great respect and admiration by North American Native People. Tatonka describes the bison that traveled and covered great distances with grace and pride.

As the demand for skilled Drivers increases, Bison Transport realizes the value of developing and retaining quality Drivers. The Mark III Simulator is an authentic truck cab mounted on a motion base. Six degrees of freedom (DoF) give the Driver a complete skills development experience. The Mark III is so realistic it has been used for major research projects regarding trucking and Driver safety issues.
The Mark III simulator offers specific skills development scenarios, including adverse weather conditions, accident avoidance and extreme situations that cannot be safely practiced using any other method. Correct decision-making is the key to safe, professional vehicle operations. The Mark III Simulator gives our Drivers the edge to reduce accidents, improve fuel economy and reduce maintenance expenses.

Bison Transport is honored to have been selected three years straight as Grand Prize winner of the Truckload Carriers Association Award for National Fleet Safety, in the over 25 million miles category. Our back-to-back selections were based on our record of stringent safety criteria, safety and training programs.
Several of Bison Transport's Drivers have been nominated to the prestigious Ontario Trucking Association's Road Knights Team. In addition to educating community organizations about road safety, Road Knights take their trucks to local schools to introduce young people to career opportunities in the trucking industry. Recognized as leaders within their industry, the Road Knights also meet with students at truck driving schools to emphasize the importance of safety, professionalism and courtesy.
