The Vice President, Finance & Administration is a senior member of the Bison Transport Executive team and an advisor to the Executive Vice President and COO.  The VP, Finance is responsible for the financial operation, administrative, and risk management of the company, including the development of a financial operating plan, linked metrics, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve and enhance the company’s assets, profitability and growth plan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior management in developing the company’s annual operating plan.

  • Complete analysis of financial results; Develop recommendations (strategic and tactical).

  • Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g., capital projects, new operations, asset acquisition, new products and service launches).

  • Responsible for all accounting functions including: financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, and billing.

  • Provide practical financial business advice and work with the COO and SVP Corporate Services regarding risk management.

  • Work with the parent company on short and longer term financing plans to fund growth and operations.

  • Oversee the human resource needs of the Accounting & Finance department.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or an MBA required.

  • CPA, CA or CMA designation is preferred.

  • 5 years experience as a Corporate Controller (or equivalent).

  • 10 years of demonstratedprogressive responsibility in financial leadership positions preferably in service related businesses.

  • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with senior management, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.

  • Ideally some experience in acquisition due diligence assignments.

  • Some experience with operating system migration and financial system implementation.

  • Excellent leadership ability, team management, interpersonal and employee development skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent decision making ability, negotiation and organizational skills.

We are currently recruiting people like you to join our highly effective Maintenance team. With shops in Winnipeg, Mississauga, Calgary, Langley and our newest shop opening in Edmonton, Bison is an employer of choice with great opportunities for growth and advancement.

As the Shop Supervisor you will supervise and lead our team of professional technicians on the shop floor. You will utilize your proven supervisory skills to provide leadership and coaching to mechanics of all experience levels.  You will assist with trouble shooting and solving of mechanical problems as well as ensuring productivity and work quality goals are met. You will communicate with Planners, Operations, Drivers and other departments as necessary in order to make decisions and adjustments to the workload schedule. Using your excellent organization skills, you will partner with Shop Managers to ensure that production and quality objectives are met.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Maintenance Administration and technical staff which includes day to day management and education, information, tools, training, action plans and providing support

  • Management and promotion of maintenance programs

  • Responsible for ensuring on-the-floor resource availability is sufficient to complete workload, by assigning and controlling overtime, time-off and vacation days

  • Monitor and administer safe shop and work practices

  • Ensure database information, files, repair entry and schedules are accurate

  • Attend and contribute to team meetings on a daily, project and management goals.

Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience would be considered an asset

  • Established interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Consistently performs work in a safe manner, following work instructions and safe operating procedures

Please note this is a continental overnight shift.  The continental shift works 12 hours per day (4:00pm – 4:00am). You will work 7 days in a 2 week period, working 2 days one week and 5 days the next week, with every second weekend off.

As the Trailer Mechanic you will work in conjunction with the Service Coordinator, Trailer Mechanics, and the other Trailer Mechanics to complete preventative maintenance and repairs on the Bison fleet in a timely and efficient manner by diagnosing problems found during inspections prescribing the correct remedial action.

Please note, this position is permanent full-time (40 hours per week) and subject to a modified work schedule. The modified shift includes 2 shifts on, 2 shifts off, 3 shifts on, 2 shifts off, 2 shifts on, 3 shifts off. We have 5 vacancies for this specific role in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The hourly wage for this role is $19.00 - 28.00 per hour. Bison offers benefits to all its full-time employees. The Fleet Dispatcher (FD) will execute the day to day activity of their assigned driver fleet.  This includes monitoring of the fleet, accurately distributing, receiving and updating information.
