Steve
Director of Operations
What support have you received?
I have had significant one-on-one time with the leaders. I really learned by example and they always give you the time you need.
Do you have any advice to candidates applying to Bison Transport?
You need to understand that the business of trucking goes well beyond a truck and trailer. You must be willing to work hard during your early years and be open minded to shift work as required. Some of the best learning occurs after typical business hours and on weekends and will really help your career go a long way.
How has your career progressed? Can you give us an overview in one minute?
I joined the company in 1996 with three years of industry experience including Dispatch and Planning. My career progressed from Planner for two different regions to Supervisor of Operations to Manager of Operation and now I am Director of Operations.
Tractor/Trailer Mechanics
Our Mechanics work in conjunction with the members of the entire maintenance team to complete preventative maintenance and repairs on the Bison fleet in a timely and efficient manner by diagnosing problems found during inspections prescribing the correct remedial action. Our maintenance program minimizes down time on the road, keeping our drivers rolling and our customer's freight delivered on time.
Mechanics must possess demonstrated diagnosing and time management abilities. Bison offers opportunities for both licensed and apprentice mechanics on a variety of shifts. Mechanics must be strongly committed to safety and high quality service.
