Bison Transport was incorporated in 1969 by owner Duncan M. Jessiman, who continues to provide leadership to the Company as Chairman and sole shareholder. Utilizing specialized equipment, Bison began providing local cartage services to the construction industry and was then awarded the catalogue business first for Eaton's and then Sears. Bison has grown from just 18 tractors and 32 employees to over 900 tractors and almost 1400 full time positions.

One of the largest Truckload Carriers in Canada today, Bison Transport serves Canada and the 48 nearby states. Bison provides refrigerated & heated dry van service throughout the 48 contiguous United States and Canada. We are proud that 90% of our fleet of tractors and trailers are 2 years old or less. In addition, Bison provides logistics and intermodal services. Our Winnipeg Warehouse & Distribution is respected as a high-service, flexible and value-creating supply chain partner.

• 1969 - Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Company was founded by the Jessiman family, who still own the company today.
• 1981 - Began transporting paper products from Manitoba to U.S. destinations.
• 1991 - With only 18 trucks on the road, Bison launched an aggressive growth strategy.
• 1996 - Launch of Bison Warehousing, a storage and distribution service in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
• 2001 - Launch of Bison ABL (Asset Based Logistics), providing extra capacity to Bison Transport clients through strategic alliances with partner carriers.
• 2003 - Opened a new Head Office in Winnipeg, including Corporate offices, North American Operations Center, and Tatonka, a revolutionary Skills Development Center.
• 2004 - Approved under the Customs Self Assessment (CSA) and Free and Secure Trade (FAST) programs, and is a certified participant of the Partners in Protection (PIP) and Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) programs.
• 2004 - Celebrated 35th Anniversary on May 28th.
• 2004 - Launch of Refrigerated Division
• 2006 - Launch of Intermodal Division
• 2006 - Completed construction and moved into new Calgary, Alberta Transportation Terminal on a 31 acre lot in Southeast Calgary.
• 2007 - Bison expands its western operations by aquiring Glenncoe Transport Ltd: a 160 truck operation based out of Kelowna, BC.
