Prairie LCV Weather Advisory – SK/MB Corridor Impacts

A weather system is expected to move across Saskatchewan and Manitoba beginning tonight and continuing through Wednesday into Thursday, bringing a mix of snow, freezing precipitation, and colder temperatures. While overall snowfall amounts are not expected to be significant, road surface conditions will be the primary risk, with potential for icy sections and reduced traction—particularly during overnight and early morning hours.

Lane-Specific Outlook:

  • Edmonton ↔ Saskatoon: Monitoring for freezing precipitation and temperature drops overnight. Conditions may become variable, with increased risk of icy stretches.
  • Saskatoon ↔ Regina: Light snow and blowing snow possible, with visibility impacts in open areas.
  • Regina ↔ Winnipeg: Highest risk corridor for mixed precipitation, including potential freezing rain, creating slippery highway conditions.
  • Winnipeg ↔ Saskatoon/Regina: Expect similar impacts extending into Manitoba with colder temps and intermittent precipitation.

LCV Operational Considerations:

  • Increased scrutiny on road surface conditions (ice/traction) vs. snowfall totals
  • Potential for temporary restrictions or pauses if conditions deteriorate beyond safe operating thresholds
  • Maintain flexibility with shutdowns or delays where required to ensure safe execution

Thank you for your continued focus and responsiveness as we manage through this system. We will keep everyone updated as conditions evolve.
