— UPDATE: Feb 4, 9:32 am —

Weather conditions across the Prairies supported continued LCV operations yesterday and today, enabling further progress in clearing the remaining backlog.

Current Status

  • All Prairie LCV lanes remain open and operational.
  • Improved conditions supported steady execution through yesterday and overnight.
  • Localized fog around Regina is reducing visibility in some areas. Teams are actively monitoring conditions and adjusting operations as needed.
  • Operations teams continue to manage volumes with a strong focus on safety and network balance.

The majority of Prairie LCV lanes are fully recovered, with remaining volume expected to move through normal execution today.

As always, please contact your account manager if you have any questions or need shipment-specific updates.

— UPDATE: Feb 3, 7:50 am —

Highway conditions across the Prairies are generally stable this morning. The Regina area is currently under a Travel Not Recommended (TNR) advisory due to reduced visibility rather than road surface conditions. Visibility is expected to improve later this morning as daylight and sunshine increase, and teams are monitoring conditions closely and adjusting execution accordingly.

At this time, residual volumes are primarily concentrated on the Calgary → Winnipeg lane, with minor volumes on select Saskatoon corridors. We will continue to provide updates as conditions improve.

— UPDATE: Feb 2, 12:47 pm —

LCV operations across the Prairies continue to stabilize following this weekend’s weather disruption. All Saskatchewan and Manitoba LCV lanes remain open, however winter driving conditions are still influencing how freight is being moved across select corridors to ensure safe and reliable service.

Current Operating Conditions

  • All Prairie LCV lanes are open.
  • Ongoing wind and variable conditions between Regina and Rush Lake are leading drivers to proactively use RTDs to haul heavier trailers.
  • This is a safety-driven measure to maintain stability while conditions continue to normalize and may slightly influence transit timing on impacted lanes.

Outlook

  • All LCV backlogs are expected to be cleared by end of day tomorrow, assuming no further weather-related disruptions.
  • Recovery efforts remain focused on the Calgary to Winnipeg corridor due to sustained volume levels.

We will continue to prioritize safe, disciplined execution as remaining volumes are cleared. If you have questions about specific shipments or potential impacts, please contact your Bison account manager for details.

Since Friday evening, LCV operations across Saskatchewan and Manitoba were significantly impacted by a prolonged winter weather event. Multiple highway closures and “travel not recommended” advisories across key Prairie corridors temporarily restricted movement and created freight backlogs.

Event Overview

  • Saskatchewan: Widespread snow, blowing snow, and near-zero visibility led to intermittent travel restrictions and temporary highway closures across southern and central regions, including Regina and Moose Jaw.
  • Manitoba: Blizzard-like conditions Friday evening resulted in hazardous travel and temporary closures, including sections of Highway 1.
  • As conditions improved, advisories were lifted and highways were progressively reopened in both provinces.

Current Status

  • All impacted highway segments across Saskatchewan and Manitoba are now open.
  • LCV lanes have resumed normal operations where permitted.
  • Teams are actively working through the remaining freight backlog created during the disruption.

Next Steps
Recovery plans are in place, with volumes being prioritized to stabilize network flow safely and efficiently. Further updates will be shared as required.
