As of Dec 10, 9:20 p.m. PST, all major routes in and out of the Lower Mainland are closed due to significant flooding and debris impacts. Highway 1 westbound remains open for now, but there is no estimated reopening time for the other routes. For real-time road conditions, please refer to DriveBC.

CBP reports that the Sumas/Huntington border crossing is closed to southbound commercial traffic. Northbound traffic is expected to resume at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, pending confirmation. Please check CBSA’s border status before proceeding.

A prolonged frontal system is bringing 80 to 120 mm of rain through tonight. Current closures are tied to overflowing creeks, standing water, and localized rockslides. A clearer assessment is expected in daylight. The Sumas Prairie area is on evacuation alert, and Washington State has declared a statewide state of emergency, which may impact carriers operating along the I-5 corridor.
