Shelley MacDonald is the Vice-President of Human Resources and People Development for Bison Transport and is responsible for human resource programs and services for Drivers and non-drivers (i.e. recruitment, employee benefits, performance management, learning & development, etc.).
Shelley is a Bluenoser at heart, born and raised in Kentville, NS. After a couple of post-secondary stints (Dalhousie University ’00 BA in History and Saint Mary’s University ’02 HR Management Certificate), with a brief travel break in between, Shelley began life as a “grown up” working as an Executive/Legal Assistant to the VP, Risk Management & General Counsel at Scotia Investments Limited. After about 4 years, Shelley packed her bags and made the trek across the country to Calgary where she landed her first “real” HR job at a Winnipeg based engineering firm where she stayed for about 10 months before she found her way to Bison Transport.
Shelley’s Bison journey started in September 2007, and she has never looked back. Shelley has experienced a fulfilling and progressive career starting as our first HR Coordinator based in our western region then quickly progressed throughout the HR ranks to her current role of VP, HR & People Development where she is focused on leading our people programs. Shelley has established herself as a trusted leader who willingly tackles challenges, builds solutions and is a top-notch communicator. Curious and a life-long learner, she is quick to identify opportunities to strengthen our employee value proposition. She also has a genuine care for our culture and commits to building future HR Programs that allow us to grow our business.
