Over the years, Bison Transport has shown tremendous community support and leadership, raising money and volunteering resources for many worthwhile causes in the communities we operate and serve.
This year, we have entered a team into the CancerCare Manitoba's Challenge for Life. The Challenge for Life is a 20k walk for men and women of all ages who share in a common goal of raising funds in support of CancerCare. It takes place on June 12, 2010 and begins and ends at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Many of us have been affected by cancer - indirectly or directly - and by committing to this challenge we're reducing our own risk of cancer and improving our own health. Each member of our 40+ person team, "the Blazing Bison" who is participating in this walk, is personally committed to raise a minimum of $1,000 to support CancerCare's work on behalf of our close friends and family who have been touched by cancer.
United as a company and a team, employees who are not walking are participating in fundraising activities such as a silent auction, "jeans day," or donations made through payroll deductions. Bison Transport has given each walker a $250 bonus for signing up to take the Challenge.
Fundraising efforts such as these drive our commitment to the advancement of social and environmental issues in the communities in which we live and work and events such as the Challenge for Life are key, and in line with the Bison's support for active living.
Driven and dedicated to lead the way, Bison Transport is currently the Challenge for Life's top fundraising team and we encourage other corporations to get involved because cancer affects everyone.
Any consideration that you give this effort will be deeply appreciated.
