Bison Transport is proud to have taken an active role in the first Wreaths Across Canada (WAC) ceremony in Manitoba, which took place this past Sunday at the Field of Honour in Brookside Cemetery.
Bison Transport partnered with the Royal Canadian Air Force 17 Wing and several other branches of our
Canadian Armed Forces to make Manitoba’s first wreath placing ceremony happen. The event was attended
by members of our Canadian Armed Forces, Cadets, The Knights of Columbus, veterans and the general
Bison Transport arranged for the purchase and transportation of all 260 wreaths, which were placed at the
beginning of every row of headstones. The Field of Honour at Brookside Cemetery is Canada’s single largest
Military Cemetery, with over 11,000 fallen military personnel buried there.
“Bison is committed to helping Wreaths Across Canada expand this initiative and we will work hard to gain
the involvement of our industry, the business community at large and individual citizens so that perhaps
next year, we have one wreath for every headstone,” said Rob Penner, Executive Vice President and COO of
Since 2011, WAC has been organizing and placing wreaths of remembrance on the headstones of thousands
of veterans in Beechwood National Military Cemetery in Ottawa. The goal of WAC is to expand this practice
so that every Military Cemetery in Canada is adorned with wreaths.
